☆ Editor′s note: The authors of this article and Doi: 10.1016/j.crad.2007.07.014 (in this issue) have recently successfully completed a three year part time MA in clinical education at the University of Brighton. The articles address important topics in medical education, and in the next issue (Vol 63 No 2) we will include a personal view (Doi:10.1016/j.crad.2007.07.013) by a third member of the their group, looking at the value of a conversational approach to clinical education.
